Have you ever experienced the feeling of knowing that you are doing exactly what God created you to do? That's how I felt when this picture was taken. I was kneeling in the middle of a muddy brick road in a poor community in Nicaragua. Who knows what that mud was contaminated with, or where those little barefoot feet had walked! But I absolutely loved it.
We measured seven children's dirty, darling feet for shoes, and asked their mamas for their clothing size. We returned the next day with eleven complete school uniforms, and were pleased to find eleven children waiting for us. All I could think was, "Oh, God, you placed me here! You called me to this place and I am actually here! I am here, in the middle of this dirt road, surrounded by smiling children, for you!"
We actually forgot the uniforms in the back of the other pickup truck, and were rather embarrassed to arrive empty handed. However, our mistake wasn't a setback to God. Our mistake provided the perfect opportunity to share the gospel with every one of those children and their families as we waited on the other team members to arrive.
I realized this week that I have personally shared about our Nicaraguan mission trip with at least 250 people. I loved every minute of it! I love talking to kids, sharing my heart, hoping that they will listen and learn how to be who God wants them to be. I love hearing that they have prayed after hearing me speak, and have asked God to heal, help, or give what's needed to every single one of the people who I had previously spoken about.
Are you a Christian? Are you a missionary? Every single one of us is called to be a missionary, even if we never leave the country; even if we never leave our home town! What excuse could ever possibly be good enough to provide a reason against sharing this joy that we possess? And why would we ever want to keep ourselves from experiencing this ecstatic, wonderful, awesome feeling of knowing that we are doing exactly what God created us to do? Don't worry about the mud in the road, just kneel down and do what He is calling you to do.
Go for it, friend. Whatever God is calling you to do right now, don't wait. We are only here for a little while. There is absolutely no time to waste!
